Places to take your children in Greater LondonPaddling Pools in London Parks - What better way to spend a sunny afternoon with little children than to hang out in a shady park with a paddling pool. The Telectroscope, Open until 15th June - I confess to being totally bemused when I received the promotional literature for this art installation. My gullible side momentarily believed that perhaps a tunnel had been begun beneath the Atlantic by some fanatical Victorian and only now are we able to "see" from London to Brooklyn, NY. Very clever art and very clever advertising and worth a quid. The National Trust Great Days Out - May half term week can be a wonderful time to have a "grand day out". The National Trust has many wonderful ideas - its not just stately homes and antique furniture! Pack a picnic, a waterproof and sun cream and head off for a day of doing something completely different. Open Air Theatre - This year there is a specially re-worked version of A Midsummer Night's Dream for 6 years +. Coram's Fields - A playground, pet's corner, cafe, picnic area, sandpit and paddling pool - this is a refuge in the heart of London Victoria and Albert Museum - The V & A won the "Visit London Best Visitor Attraction of the Year Award" for 2007 and deservedly so. Russia exhibition - This landmark exhibition presents modern masterpieces drawn from Russia's principal collections Exploring London's Museums - Visiting a museum can be overwhelming and tiring if you are not prepared. Here are a few tips. London's amazing parks - According to William Pitt the parks are the lungs of London; not the most romantic of images admittedly but these verdant expanses are some of London's most treasured possessions. City Farms - Wherever you happen to live in London, the countryside is literally in your backyard; you'll be amazed to learn that there are 17 city farms and over 100 community gardens in London. Indoor Ski Slopes - A ski holiday can be an expensive business for a family so a taster session at an indoor slope can be a good way to see if any member of the family is going to absolutely hate it! Ice Rinks in London - Permament indoor ice rinks and Seasonal Ice Rinks. London's Lidos - If you're looking for something bigger than a paddling pool but want to stay outside, why not try one of the remaining London Lidos. Sporting Museums - Sports Museums around London Woods and Woodland around London - Head for the shade: the coolest place to be in the summer heat is under the trees. Playgrounds and Adventure Parks in London - Some of the best childhood memories many of us will have are about climbing to the top of a rope ladder or swinging so high we imagine we can loop the loop over the top bar or playing obstacle courses where you can't touch the ground. Day Trips from London - Even though London has so much on offer, just occasionally you may feel the need to escape for a day - here are some suggestions for days out. Where to eat ice cream in London - the enticement of an ice cream can encourage the weariest, stroppiest of children to keep going and be good. Park Cafes in London - Whatever the weather, a run around in your local park is a great way to blow away the cobwebs and it's even more fun with the temptation of a hot chocolate in the local park café. Indoor Playcentres - There is so much choice when it comes to Indoor Playcentres. London Libraries - Take a trip to your local library - its free, inspiring and, often as not, your local library will be housed in an historic building. Seasonal events and activitiesGet your skates on! Why not visit one of London's great family friendly ice rinks.
