The London Dungeon

28/34 Tooley Street London SE1 2SZ
020 74 037 221 londondungeon@merlinentertainments.biz

The London Dungeon combines real history, horror and humour to bring gruesome goings-on back to life in the 21st century. Live actors, a terrifying boat ride, shows and special effects transport you to London's gory past.

A new attraction added in 2006

Sweeney Todd! Are you brave enough to cross the threshold of Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street? A short back and sides (1785 style) could be just the thing to round off your visit.

  • Blood and Guts, torture and terror in re-enactments of some of the most gruesome events in British History.
  • Brave the Great Fire of London - stand in the dock in front of a ruthless 18th century judge and enter the dark realm of the medieval torture chamber.
  • You can also Step back to 1665 to dodge the rats inhabiting the 'The Great Plague' feature, and battle your way through the chilling mirror maze 'Labyrinth of the Lost'.
  • Hold on tight as you sail down the Thames on the all new 'Traitor: Boat Ride to Hell' the scariest ride in London!

In addition to the repulsive animatronics and waxworks complete with appropriately gruesome sound effects, there are also some (very much alive) costumed staff who stand in the displays and jump out at unsuspecting parties of tourists.

You won't be surprised to learn that kids absolutely love it. It is also an excellent way of fostering your children's interest in history, though the downside is that they may force you to buy some truly repellent items from the gift shop.
