Children's Art Classes

Led by artists, our courses cater for all ages and abilities. Learn a new skill or develop existing ones in our beautiful light and airy studios.

Courses for adults and young people (16+):

Sculpture and Clay
Saturdays, 2.00 - 4.30pm, 5 weeks
Experiment with the sculptural possibilities of clay and develop your own creations through building, modelling and assembling.

Exploring Clay
Sundays 10.30am-1.00pm, 10 weeks
An introduction to key techniques, such as hand building, throwing, slip and glaze work. For anyone wishing to develop their confidence in working with clay.

Creative Clay
Wednesdays, 6.30 - 9.00pm, 10 weeks
Creative ceramics workshop using a wide range of techniques in a relaxed and stimulating group setting. For any level of experience.

Critical Drawing
Wednesdays, 6.30-9.00pm, 10 weeks
Experienced artists lead you in this structured but experimental approach to drawing.

Creative Drawing
Thursdays, 2.00 – 4.30pm, 10 weeks
Build your confidence and sharpen your looking as well as mark making skills.

Painting and Drawing
Thursdays, 10.30am – 1.00pm, 5 weeks
Suitable for anyone with enthusiasm for painting - this structured course explores both figurative and abstract approaches and includes life studies.

Discover the Limits of Clay
26-27 May
Combining different conventional and new techniques – use porcelain, crank and experiment with slip and clear glaze.

This new programme of short, intense courses gives the opportunity to try techniques or a new medium with an experienced practising artist. No experience needed.

Courses for young people and children (5-15):

Drawing and Making
Saturdays, 2.00 - 4.30pm, 10 weeks
Age group: 12 -15 years old
Based equally on sculpture and work on paper, translate your ideas between the two. There will be access to ceramics facilities combined with anything from paint and charcoal to collage and sculpture materials.

Active Clay
Saturdays, 10.30am -1.00pm, 10 weeks
Age group: 8 - 11 years old
A fun, lively course encouraging children to use clay creatively. Led by artists who devise themed projects focusing on experimentation, concentration and working together.

Mixed Media
Saturdays, 10.30am – 1.00pm, 5 weeks
Age group: 5 – 7 years old
Young imaginations will spin into action with a vast array of different materials in this short term-time course designed to build children's creativity and confidence in a group setting.
