Children's Art Day Sunday 2nd July

Children's Art Day is a UK-wide celebration and will receive both local and national publicity. It was set up as part of the Artworks programme run by the Clore Duffield Foundation. The day will provide opportunities for hundreds of children around the UK to get involved in art projects and activities organised by galleries, art centres, museums, schools and other organisations. Some events will be for specific school classes and other groups from formal or informal learning settings, but others will be open to members of the public including family groups.

Create some of London's famous landmarks in Trafalgar Square between 2-5pm. Themes will be based around the iconic cityscape of London and will include special outdoor activities all over the Square as well as invitations to workshops and activities indoors at the National Gallery and the National Portrait Gallery. The Chrisi Bailey Award (The National Children's Media Arts Award) will be presented in the Big M, a huge inflatable gallery located in Trafalgar Square. All the events are free. Children's Art Day in Trafalgar Square is supported by The Mayor for London, Arts Council England, the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery and the Clore Duffield Foundation.

Dulwich Picture Gallery will be presenting Papier-Mâché ArtPlay. In this wonderful artist-led workshop adults and children can create together to make amazing papier-mâché animals. Children must be accompanied by an adult with a Gallery ticket. No more than two children over 4 years to one adult.

HMS Belfast hosts "View from the Bridge" weekend to celebrate Children's Art Day:
a hands on, creative activity from the ship's flag deck on both Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd July.
